I am not originally from CDO (since I was born in Manila and we speak Tagalog in our home) that’s why I can’t really understand some bisaya words especially the deep ones. Nagkataon na parang nauso ang ‘expression’ na “boto” (only bisaya ppl can understand it ^^) sa school. Boys usually shouted it. I thought it was the same as “atay” or “pistot”. So it became my ‘expression’ also. I say it whenever may nahulog or nagulat ako. One time nasa Toy Kingdom ako with my best friend. Nagtingin-tingin ako sa mga toys. May isang toy na bigla lang tumunog and nagulat ako. I shouted ‘ay boto!’. Then may salesman ng Toy Kingdom ang nakarinig. He was laughing at me. I was like “O.o” I shared what happened to my best friend. Tumawa rin siya and then I asked her why. She explained that the meaning of the word ‘boto’ was a part of a boy’s private part (not sure basta bad siya) hahaha. And from then on, i always ask the meaning of the word before using it :))) teehee
